3 Food Events in November Not to Be Missed

As November rolls round, we suss out the top three food events you won’t want to miss.

4xFOUR (Oct 28 – Nov 20)

Annual pop-up restaurant extravaganza 4xFOUR is back for its third installment, with a stunning line-up of Michelin-starred chefs that are presenting full menus for the first time in Singapore. From October 26 to November 20, guests will get to experience the cuisine of four internationally celebrated Michelin-starred chefs.

The four Michelin-starred chefs are:

  • Paco Morales (Ferrero by Paco Morales, 1 Michelin Star, Spain) who breaks all traditional boundaries with his distinct Arabic-Spanish cuisine.
  • Claude Bosi (Hibiscus, 2 Michelin Stars, 5 AA Rosettes, UK) is noted for his passion for produce and bringing out the flavors of each ingredient through his modern cooking techniques.
  • Davide Scabin (Combal.Zero, 2 Michelin Stars, 3 Gambero Rosso Forks, 40th on World’s 50 Best, Italy) best known as “The Magician” and has been at the forefront of reforming traditional Italian classics.
  • Ollie Dabbous (Dabbous, 1 Michelin Star, UK), the master in the art of cuisine juxtaposition and whose London restaurant maintains a one-year waitlist to get a seat.

Dîner en Blanc – Singapore (Nov 21)

This inaugural annual secret affair is back for its fourth installment, aiming to enthrall over 3,000 food lovers, fashion and cultural enthusiasts with this year’s SG50-themed Dîner en Blanc on November 21.

Onlookers will be able to witness a sea of white, as guests are dressed in white at specific rallying points across the city. Dîner en Blanc volunteers will then proceed to guide guests on foot, by bus or public transportation to their destination – journeying across the city’s most scenic landmarks.

Guests are required to bring their own gourmet feast, table, chairs and table settings. Over the course of the evening, they will eat and celebrate amid music, entertainment and dancing. The location will only be unveiled an hour before the event.

Gourmet Greens Week (Nov 23 – 29)

For the first time ever, Singapore will be launching a vegetarian version of “Restaurant Week”, focusing on the natural, pristine beauty of vegetables. Presented by FIJI Water and Chope, Gourmet Greens Week takes place from November 23 to 29, with 17 restaurants each featuring an all-vegetarian four-course menu ($30 for lunch; $45 for dinner) including a bottle of FIJI water.

Showcased during Gourmet Greens Week are ingredients such as eggplant, spinach, and sunchoke and girolle mushroom. Guests can expect innovative creations like beetroot tartin with pecan nuts (at Sugarhall), golden beets and mascarpone cheese, or savor layering flavors and textures in a grilled portobello mushroom (at Sugarhall) served with chanterelles and shimeji fritters.

Comforting classics arrive in the form of makkai kaju ki seekh (at Tandoor); corn and cashew nut rolls delicately spiced with fenugreek and roasted cumin, and hearty baked layers of chargrilled eggplant (at Original Sin), potato, tomato and lentils, infused with Middle Eastern spices and finished with a white sauce.
